Our little Micah was born on September 19, 2006, at 3:33am. He was a big fella, at 8.5lbs (3.845kg) and 20" (51cm).

Micah is named after the Old Testament prophet, whose short book in the Bible includes the verse, "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." We hope that Micah will walk humbly with God, and proclaim truth as boldly as the prophet Micah.

Jenny's at the hospital ready to have a baby. This was September 18, one day after the due date. Some contractions had started, so we spent the day at the hospital.

At the hospital waiting...

Micah was born at 3:33am, and this was shortly after.

Here's little Micah getting some rest on day 1.

Some of Jenny's good friends from Longyan were in town and came to visit the hospital.

Here's Micah cleaned up and resting on day 2.

Uncle Kirk and Aunt Jennifer came to visit little Micah.

Ben's mom, Nancy, came down to help Ben & Jenny care for their new baby. It's Chinese tradition that the mother-in-law comes down to help the new mother take care of the baby. Chinese for grandmother is "nai-nai".

Nancy's first encounter with Micah at the hospital.

Nancy helped take care of Micah so that Jenny could rest & recover. A job well done!

Here's Micah getting some light treatment for jaundice, which is very normal for babies.

Micah's hospital stay included daily Chinese massage! It helps get the digestive system, blood flow, and other body functions going properly.

Micah also enjoyed his daily swims! In recent years Chinese have discovered that babies love to sit in warm water, suspended by a neck floatie!

Relaxed and unashamed in the swimming tub.

On the scales on day three.

The naming ceremony. We finally thought of a name on day 4.

Daddy's changing diapers with the nurse.

His Indian name is Little Red Bottom.

Aunt Avery came down from Beijing to see Micah for the weekend! "Aunt" in Chinese is "Gu-Gu", so she's "Avery Gu-Gu".

Grandpops ("Ye Ye") and Aunt Avery enjoying the new addition to the family.

Robbie Ye Ye is happy to meet little Robert Micah Briggs. Both are "RMB", which means "money" in Chinese.

Aunt Avery.

Aunt Bonner. She had a cold so she wore a face mask just to be safe.

And Aunt Avery.

The little family.

His crib has some Chinese typos... They meant to write "Little Angel", but it came out as "Little Anger". He's our precious little Anger. And the cowboy's "yee-haw" came out as "ya-hii". Close enough.

Eyes open. We haven't yet decided what color they are...

Chinese wrap their babies up and tie a ribbon around them.

With Nai-Nai.

He's a keeper.
